For many generations, the folk stories of Andare have enriched Sri Lankan culture and Sinhala literature with great humour. The story revolves around the childhood of Andare who was a witty court jester who lived during the 18th century during the reigns of Kings Kirthi Sri Rajasinhe and Rajadhi Rajasinhe of the Kandyan Kingdom.

He started his career in the 1993 film Nelum Ha Samanmalee, and rose to prominence in 2004 by playing the male lead in the highly successful film Mille Soya, and later the 2008 film Machan. He is a past pupil of Thurstan College, Colombo.

    Sathischandra Edirisinghe is actor, filmmaker and tele drama director. He is the sixth member of the family born on 11th February, 1941 in Kelaniya. His father is late Mr. Petikirige Edirisinghe and the mother is late Mrs. Ushettige Elizabeth Perera. Sathis started his career as an actor in 1961 in stage plays and most succeeded by then. Later he was absorbed to other streams – Cinemas and Tele Dramas, he captured those fields as a whole, identifying technical and characteristic differences in each stream keenly. Since 1961 he was called for about 25 stage plays and some were his own productions. Among the all, “Mahagedara” Directed by Ranjith Dharmakeerthi – an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “Cherry Orchard” is vastly memorable in all the fans’ mind up to date.
