Set in Mumbai, movie showcases the story of a man from Tirunelveli, who migrates to Mumbai, and eventually emerges as a virtuous gangster in the Dharavi slums. The movie also highlights the sufferings of Tamil migrants in Mumbai who are often victims of discrimination.
Shivaji Rao Gaekwad known by his mononymous stage name Rajinikanth, is an Indian film actor and politician who works primarily in Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth was born on 12 December 1950, in a Maratha family in Bangalore, Mysore State. His mother was a housewife, and his father Ramoji Rao Gaekwad, a police constable. Rajinikanth was enrolled at the "Gavipuram Government Kannada Model Primary School" where he had his primary education. After sixth grade, he was enrolled at the Acharya Pathasala Public School and studied there till completion of his pre-university course. Upon completion of his school education, Rajinikanth continued to perform various jobs in the cities of Bangalore and Madras, including that of a coolie and carpenter, and finally ended up being recruited in the Bangalore Transport Service (BTS) as a bus conductor. In 1973, he joined the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute to pursue a diploma in acting. Rajinikanth began his film career through the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal (1975). Following his debut, his acting career commenced with a brief phase of portraying antagonistic characters in Tamil films. While working in other regional film industries of India, Rajinikanth has also appeared in the cinemas of other nations, including the American film Bloodstone (1988).
Nana Patekar is an Indian actor, writer, philanthropist and filmmaker, mainly working in Hindi and Marathi films. Patekar was born to a Marathi family as Vishwanath Patekar on 1 January 1951 in Murud-Janjira in Raigad District, Maharashtra. He is an alumnus of the Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai. P. Samuthirakani is an Indian film actor of India and director who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry besides appearing in a number of Malayalam films. Samuthirakani was born on 26 April 1973 in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu. He studied B.Sc.(Mathematics), in Rajapalayam Rajus College, and Bachelor of Law from Ambedkar Law College, Chennai.
