Heroes Project - Supporting children with Autism

Sri Lanka

A Colombo Cinnamon Round Table 4 Initiative

The Heroes project is Colombo Cinnamon Round Table 4’s community service project with a focus on supporting parents and children with Autism to get the necessary training to assimilate and be independent in society.

The Heroes’ project was born 6 years ago during which CCRT4 took on small projects with the focal point being kids with special needs. This gave CCRT4 much needed insight and experience into the ground level reality of the support systems available and plight of those with special needs in Sri Lanka.

CCRT4 carried out a micro projects with the ultimate vision of having a self-sustaining resource center (Heroes Center) to support children, caregivers and parents of autistic children. 4 years ago this goal became a reality with the opening of the Heroes Center. The center provides different forms of therapy for children free of cost by certified individuals. The children are from low income families who would otherwise have not been able to get the required attention.

The funds raised by CCRT4 is given straight to the project with no administrative charges.
